About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team in Bristol. This role focuses on pricing and tendering for maintenance contracts, primarily within the commercial sector, with some residential projects included.

The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new business and supporting the delivery of high-quality maintenance services through accurate cost planning and competitive tender submissions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for maintenance contracts
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Conduct site visits where required to assess project scope and risks
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Develop pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability
  • Prepare and submit tender documents within deadlines
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the tender process
  • Identify value engineering opportunities
  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimating tools
  • Support handover to operations teams upon successful contract award

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an Estimator role, ideally within maintenance or facilities management
  • Strong understanding of commercial maintenance contracts (residential experience beneficial)
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

Desirable

  • Background in construction, building services, or facilities management
  • Knowledge of JCT or similar contract forms
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience)
