About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all project costs align with scope, client requirements, and current legislation

  • Collaborate with the wider preconstruction team to secure and convert tender opportunities

  • Produce accurate and robust cost plans through all design stages up to target price

  • Provide guidance to design teams and advise clients on affordability

  • Identify risks and value engineering opportunities, proposing effective solutions

  • Assess and price alternative design options where required

  • Manage and complete detailed quantity take-offs (SMM7 / NRM2 level)

  • Prepare comprehensive cost handover documentation for delivery teams, including:

    • Bills of quantities

    • Tender submissions

    • Supply chain quotations and comparisons

  • Lead procurement scheduling and develop strong supply chain relationships

  • Support change control processes, assessing cost implications across design stages

  • Contribute to design development by advising on cost impacts and budget alignment


Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience delivering two-stage tenders, including pricing all work packages

  • Strong knowledge of a range of construction methods

  • Experience managing cost, programme, and quality targets

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Valid CSCS card


Desirable Criteria

  • HNC / NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification

  • Relevant degree in construction or commercial discipline

  • Experience using estimating software such as Conquest (or similar)

  • Experience completing take-offs to SMM7 standard

  • Working towards professional membership (e.g. MCIOB or RICS)


Salary & Benefits

  • £70,000 - £85,000 (depending on experience)

  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office
