About the Role
This role is ideal for an individual at an early stage of their estimating career who is looking to develop strong commercial and technical skills within a structured and supportive environment.
The Junior Estimator will work closely with senior estimators, commercial managers and operational teams, gaining hands-on experience across the full estimating and tendering lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, including labour, materials, plant, preliminaries and overheads
- Support the production and management of tender documentation in line with specifications and submission deadlines
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation to understand project scope and requirements
- Help obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to support accurate pricing
- Maintain estimating databases, cost models and benchmarking information
- Assist in the preparation of cost reports, pricing schedules and tender clarifications
- Support senior team members during bid reviews and internal approval processes
- Attend site visits when required to support tender development and data verification
- Ensure estimating activities are completed in accordance with internal procedures and governance requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Some experience within construction, property maintenance or estimating (placement, apprenticeship or graduate level experience considered)
- Basic understanding of construction processes and cost components
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel and general office software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn
