Assistant Quantity Surveyor Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Slough. In this role, you will support our Quantity Surveyors in managing costs and contracts. This is a great opportunity for someone with a foundation in quantity surveying and a passion for the built environment, particularly within the social housing sector.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects during the tender stage

  • Support the development and maintenance of project budgets

  • Gather and analyse cost data related to materials, labour, and equipment

  • Help prepare, review, and manage contracts, including terms and conditions

  • Monitor contract compliance and assist in handling variations or disputes

  • Assist in managing subcontractor agreements and procurement processes

  • Measure and value on-site work to support interim valuations and applications for payment

  • Process subcontractor payments and reconcile accounts

  • Support procurement by obtaining competitive quotes and negotiating terms with suppliers

  • Track project costs and assist in producing regular cost reports

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and highlight risks of overspending

  • Contribute to the preparation of final accounts

  • Support risk identification and the development of mitigation strategies

  • Maintain compliance with legal, contractual, and company standards

  • Keep accurate records of all cost-related documentation and correspondence

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Background or experience in the Social Housing sector (preferred)

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Key Skills:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Basic understanding of construction processes and building regulations

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks

  • Problem-solving mindset and a collaborative team player
